INTRODUCING Kara Thompson
BSF's Lead Special Education Teacher
|
Bright Steps Forward's most powerful asset is our Lead Teacher, Kara Thompson (pronounced Car-a). Loved by her students and co-workers alike, Kara's enthusiasm for working with special needs children is contagious. She has a special gift in her ability to bring out the best in everyone she encounters.
Kara came to us from the mid-west where her family currently resides. She grew up as the middle child with two sisters in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan and received her undergraduate degree and her Masters in Education from Wayne State University in Detroit.
Kara is currently mid-way through pursuing her doctorate and plans to complete her dissertation on "Why the Visual Arts are Important for Students with Disabilities and Emotional Impairment". She has been teaching for 14 years —specializing in working in the special needs field for the last six years.
Kara believes in differentiated instruction with a student-centered strategy. Each student at Bright Steps Forward receives the benefit of her guidance and parents enjoy knowing that their child will be challenged to their fullest potential.
